A vaudeville show for little ones (3 to 6 years old)
At the heart of the work,That's My Sister! (C'est ma soeur!) are the themes of gratitude and the management of emotions through fraternal and friendship bonds. This show will come to fruition in 2019.
Bringing together tales, puppets, object and shadow theatre, That's My Sister! is a humourous show demonstrating how feelings emerge and disappear, how we tame them in order to live with them and especially so that we can live together! For the writing of this show, Des mots d’la dynamite reconnects with language as its driving force.
When we perform our shows and meet children, we are seduced by the spontaneity of their comments. They are entertained by games of hide and seek and truths and lies and enjoy being told stories. They enter confidently into the world of illusions and their appetite for the "theatrical" act is contagious.
Games of scale, in the set design elements and in miniscule objects and puppets, are what shape the show. The rhythm of sequences and the reversal of situations are punctuated by short narrations, causing the action to bounce through an association of ideas: a vaudeville show for little ones!
From January to May 2018, the writing of the show, That's My Sister! will be guided by regular meetings with three groups of children at the Autour du monde daycare in Parc-Extension. These cultural mediation activities are being implemented thanks to the support of the Montreal cultural action program (Programme montréalais d’action culturelle). Moreover, a weeklong residency at the Parc-Extension Maison de la culture will give us the opportunity to present a first version of the show in the spring of 2018.
